what are placemats for?

People use placemats for all kinds of reasons – from adding style, texture and colour, to simply protecting table surfaces. Dining and drinking aren’t the tidiest of activities, so the simple introduction of a quality placemat can save you – and your table – a lot of trouble in the long run.

Stains, spills, scratches and heat damage from piping hot crockery are all risks when dining on a bare table, which is why the addition of a durable placemat can make all the difference. Ours are woven from quality 100% polyester – specially designed for durability and resistance to stains. This makes them a perfect fit for outdoor dining, as their natural toughness makes a great match for the elements. Just remember to bring them back inside once the fun's over!

how to clean placemats.

If your woven placemats do pick up a stain or mark – there’s no need to worry. All our designs are machine washable at a maximum of 30°C, so just pop on a quick cleaning cycle to get your placemats looking pristine again. Remember to always read your product’s care label carefully before starting any kind of cleaning process.

Repeated machine washing can affect the integrity of even the toughest fabrics, so it’s a good idea to spot clean if you’re just dealing with an isolated stain. Use a soft brush to loosen any surface-level debris from your placemat, or just give it a good old-fashioned shake.

Make a diluted cleaning solution of mild detergent or dish soap (20%) and warm water (80%). Spot test your solution on an inconspicuous area of the fabric to ensure it won’t cause damage. Then, gently agitate the stain with a soft-bristled brush soaked in the cleaning solution. As always, we recommend carefully reading the instructions on your product’s care label before cleaning.
