How to decorate your home for Christmas

Whether you’re dreaming of a full on Christmas set-up or something a bit more minimalist, everyone loves giving their home that festive glow. It’s a time for warming up, welcoming guests and embracing the seasonal spirit – and what better setting to celebrate in than a wonderland of Christmas homeware?

To transform your living room into a festive sanctuary for Christmas, start by integrating the classic holiday palette of red, green, and gold. These traditional shades will infuse your space with a cosy, minimalist charm that feels both timeless and elegant. To further enhance the ambience, focus on textures. Layering festive throws in either knitted, fleece or faux fur, and an assortment of cushions in complementary colours and patterns will instantly create an inviting and dreamlike setting, perfect for relaxation and holiday gatherings.

To bring some festive cheer to your bedroom this holiday season, consider choosing Christmas bedding that showcases either subtle, elegant designs or bold, eye-catching patterns to suit your style. Complement your bedding with an assortment of cosy, plush throws and decorative cushions in festive colours or textures, such as velvet. By layering these details, you can create a warm, inviting space that radiates holiday spirit and comfort.

When do Christmas decorations come down for 2025?

Deciding when to put up and take down Christmas decorations can feel like a big question, but it's really all about personal preference. Traditionally in the UK, decorations go up on the first day of Advent (November 30th in 2025) and come down on the Twelfth Night of Christmas, which is January 5th.

However, many people love to start decorating on December 1st, while others can't wait to embrace the festive spirit a little earlier. On the other side of the holidays, after all the Christmas and New Year excitement, it's completely understandable if taking everything down isn't your top priority.

So, whether you stick to tradition or leave your tinsel up a little longer, the most important thing is to do what feels right for you. Don't stress about the dates, just enjoy the festive cheer in your own time!
