It's My House & I Live Here! ep. 1 - Rea Bell

Real homes. Real people. Real style.

Welcome to It's My House and I Live Here- a peek inside the homes of our amazing Furn community. We're chatting with home-lovers who've made their space their own, discovering how they style, decorate, and create joy in their everyday. Expect honest insights, beautiful corners, and a little inspiration to make your own home feel even more 'you'. This week, we're stepping into the home of [Name] in [Location], a [job/short descriptor] whose interiors style is full of character, comfort and clever touches. From cosy cushions to statement throws, here's how they make their house a home.

1. How would you describe your interior style in three words?

Midimalist, colourful, vintage-luxe.

2. What part of your home gives you the most joy - and why?

My dining room is my favourite room in the house, I love working in there. I have a bespoke dining table that can spread all my paints out on, the room is painted green which gives me a calming feeling, it also has three windows so it's always full of light.

I have a lot of plants in there, and a beautiful art deco cabinet that I love and I've styled with my fave books, my lovely Quail Polar Bear pencil pot and of course a mirror ball. I have a mirror ball in almost every room in my house.

Also the view from my side window is my favourite, it's like looking out on to a slice of quintessential England - cottages, British flowers and a red phone box.

3. What’s one piece that always gets compliments, and where did you find it?

The one thing that gets the most attention is my life-size vintage ceramic leopard. I found him in the cutest antique shop in Todmorden in Yorkshire (great for antiques FYI!). I’d wanted one for as long as I could remember and there he was, his big green eyes saying BUY ME! He currently lives on my landing to greet you as you come up the stairs.

4. Which Furn pieces have found a place in your home, and what do you love about them?

I have Furn in most of the rooms in my house, the sofa is covered in cushions (you can never have too many!) I have various throws in all textures to tie in, it’s the ultimate cosy item for me, especially the Kallu faux fur throw. It’s so snuggly and makes me feel instantly relaxed - Albert the cat loves it too.

I usually have Furn bedding, and new bedding means new cushions! I always buy a plain cushion and a patterned cushion to match… and I change them with every bedding change (extra, moi?)

I also have a throw over the back of each chair in the dining room, and a different patterned/plain cushion on each chair.

5. What advice would you give to someone trying to make their space feel more “them”?

I would say think about what makes your home feel like home, what give you that warm fuzzy/excited feel? Is it a colour or a scent? Is there a band you like? A TV show? Have you spotted someone’s room in a show that you like? Is there someone on Instagram/socials that you follow? What do you like about their space?

I would ALWAYS start a project with a Pinterest board, pin everything you like, and see if you notice any trends, and you don’t need to completely renovate a whole space all at once, it can be a simple as getting a couple of new cushions or a throw, updating a piece of wall art.

If you’re anxious about changes, start small, live with that for a bit, see how it feels and then try something else, etc… but remember it’s your space and all about how it makes you feel.
