Your guest room is often a two-for-one. It's where friends and family sleep when they come to stay, but it might also be your home office or craft room. So when you're hosting loved ones, how do you style this multifunctional space?
We caught up with Mollie, also known as @harleyhousebythesea over on Instagram, who showed us how to style a perfect guest bedroom.
create a vignette.
What better room to impress your guests than the one they will be sleeping in? Catch their attention by creating a statement space in a corner of the room. Mollie has done just that by dressing colourful, bold furniture with our Jasper Throw alongside a variety of other complementary accessories. An arrangement such as this creates a feature in the room, making the overall space appear grander and lavish. make it cosy.
Is there anything worse than not sleeping in your own bed? An unfamiliar atmosphere can be the recipe for a terrible night's sleep. That's why it's important to create a cosy and welcoming environment for your guests to sleep in.
Mollie has styled this bed with an abundance of cosy furnishings to welcome her guests. She has opted for not only one but two throws to ensure her guests have a level of control over the room's temperature. She has also added shams behind the pillows to create an extra element of comfort and décor.
The blush duvet set is a great contrast against the dark green interior of the room. It complements the other bold furniture pieces in the room and effortlessly ties everything together. The rectangular cushion styled in front of the pillows adds alternate dimensions given its difference in size to the pillows and shams. As it is almost identical to the colour of the walls, it is the perfect finishing touch for this room!
accessorise, accessorise, accessorise.
Door stops are a perfect accessory to add to your spare room. Not only do they add character and provide a little company for your guests but they also encourage socialising between rooms. Our doorstops come in extra-handy when hosting parties and get-togethers making your home an open and social space. Mollie has opted for our adorable Herringbone Dog Novelty Door Stop in Mocha - the best practical companion!
We caught up with Mollie from @harleyhousebythesea to see how and why she styled her guest bedroom this way!
F: Hi Mollie! Your guest bedroom looks incredible, what was your inspiration for this room?
M: I really enjoy having fun with colours and textures and have made some bold choices with styling in our house. For our guest room, I wanted to create a ‘fun’, but cosy look. I want our guests to enjoy their stay and feel as comfortable as possible, but at the same time put a smile on their face which I think the Dhadit stripe throw and Haze Tufted pillow shams are great for!
F: We're sure it will put a smile on their face, it is stunning! Do you think its important to make an effort with your guest bedroom?
M: Totally! I love having people over and want them to feel at home when they stay with us. When I was growing up, I wasn’t a big fan of sleeping out and know that a lot of people prefer their own bed. But nobody wants to pay for a taxi home when they’re having a great night so we wanted to offer a place for them to crash that they’d love.
F: That's so thoughtful, you've made it look so cosy and welcoming! What is your favourite product you have styled in this room?
M: Those gorgeous big shams are so versatile. I love them, they’re a great feature for the bedroom and make a huge statement. They can be styled behind or in front of my regular pillows and look fantastic either way!
