Introducing... our eco-friendly 100% recycled plastic cushions

We're delighted to introduce our very first sustainable cushion range! It's a collection of vibrant and daring designs that have been printed onto certified ‘REPREVE’ fabric. These cushions are made from 100% recycled PET, which is most commonly found in plastic bottles. We’re super proud of our recycled polyester cushions, helping to reduce plastic waste one cushion at a time.

the plastic waste crisis.

“Plastic - [it was] originally created as a solution to maintain the availability and longevity of natural resources on earth” - waste4change.com

Despite the fact that plastic is currently overwhelming us, there is no denying that the invention of plastic was life changing, and it has proven to be very useful in many ways. But did you know that 1 million plastic bottles are bought around the world every minute? Over 80% of all the plastic bottles that we use end up in landfills - that’s billions of plastic bottles. Every. Single. Year.

It can take a plastic bottle up to 450 years to break down. Plastic never fully decomposes, which means that one way or another, it still exists in the environment in some form. So where does it go? The majority of plastic waste ends up in landfills, whilst a much smaller percentage will face thermal destruction or end up being recycled.

so what can we do about it?
Over time people are becoming more and more aware of the issue with single-use plastics. But what steps can we all take to do our part in reducing waste plastic?

Consciously reduce your use of plastic.

When you think about it, plastic probably features in your life a lot. But luckily, there are lots of easy swaps that you can make - from using a reusable water bottle and a thermos for your coffee to switching to shampoo bars and washable cotton pads.

Recycle. Recycle. Recycle.

If you do find yourself using a plastic bottle, make sure you recycle it properly. Most plastic bottles are made from either PET or HDPE, both of which are widely recycled.

how we're helping.
As a brand, furn.com is taking steps to be more sustainable, which is why we are incredibly proud of our first 100% recycled cushion range.

In order to repurpose waste plastic, we have created a range of vibrant and daring cushions made from 100% recycled PET (Polyethylene terephthalate), which is commonly found in plastic bottles. The fabric that we use to make our recycled cushions is certified ‘REPREVE’, the leading, most trusted, branded performance material made from recycled fibres. To date, over 25 billion plastic bottles have been collected and recycled to make REPREVE fabric.
